Parent participation is a key ingredient in every successful school. Family cooking, sharing family traditions, favorite hobbies, and telling our favorite stories show all of us at 10th Street how we are alike and how we are all different. We welcome parents and grandparents; they are an integral part of daily life at 10th Street.
Each year, 10th Street families make a positive impact within the preschool and the Santa Monica community at large. Our Scholarship Fund enables us to increase the social and economic diversity of our school. In our monthly Share-a-Lunch program, 10th Street children pack lunches for The Ocean Park Community Center, a social services agency and safe haven for the homeless in our community. Every Fall, we come together on Thanksgiving Eve to prepare meals for Westside Thanksgiving, a 2,500-person gathering of Santa Monica residents living at the poverty level. During our annual Pajama Party, 10th Street children and parents meet the heroes of the Santa Monica Fire Department, and bring new toys for Spark of Love, SMFD’s holiday toy drive. For over twenty years, 10th Street Preschool children and parents support USC’s Violence Intervention Program, helping the victims of child abuse, violence and sexual assault. The 10th Street community also participates in the One Voice Food Drive.
